On Sunday February 14th our Union Brother and Local 717 Secretary, Shawn Ahrens was seriously injured while fighting a multi-building house fire in which there were 7 fatalities. Shawn was struck by a chimney that fell 40 feet from a roof that burned through. Brother Ahrens spent several days in critical condition and has a long recovery period ahead of him. Like so many of us, Shawn depends of his side job to support his family, and his severely handicapped daughter. Local 717 is attempting to assist our brother in his time of need and is requesting your assistance. We are having a fundraiser for Brother Ahrens: March 8th 2010 Sam Buca’s Restaurant 12231 S. Harlem Palos Heights, Il 60463 From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.   Cost is $25.00 per person and includes draft beer and food.
